Transparent Curtains ~ textiles for interior
    Summer 2017
A collaboration together with Iris Desiree Claessens
Together with Iris D. Claessens, Maria had the chance to design curtains for the office of the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Maastricht/Netherlands. By researching on diverse green tones and color intensities, they created a well balanced collection of transparent light cotton fabrics. The individual green fabric pieces can be interchanged and set in multiple orders, so that the total installation sustains fresh and vibrant. When the fabric pieces overlap, green tones merge and create new color gradients. Due to the 5 m high windows, it was challenging to move the fabric back and forth on the wire rope. A special developed hanging system enabled a simpler and smoother sliding effect, resulting one total floating composition. When the curtains are shut, the outside can clearly be received from the inner room perspective; contrasting the other, where the inside of the office is protected by outer views and light. While working on this curtain collection, Maria discovered more thoroughly her passion for interior, playing with elements as light, space and designing fabrics in bigger scale.
